Explore innovative opportunities for telehealth and provide overview of funding resources and health information technology grants.
Educate and support to increase understanding of the current regulatory, reimbursement, and operational requirements for establishing and enhancing a telehealth program.
Evaluate and assist in identifying partners for aligning telehealth, joining a regional health information network (RHIO), subcontracting for care coordination and other programs using telehealth and remote monitoring.
Assist client efforts in creating research models for outcomes measurements of telehealth programs, and strategic positioning for funding for telehealth efforts.
Identify contacts within governmental departments and private industry to assist in ramping up telehealth activities.
Assist client efforts in obtaining licensure for and identifying liability issues in telehealth enterprises.
HOMECARE AND HOSPICE -- FREE-STANDING AND SYSTEM-BASED
Strategic planning for the alignment of post-hospitalization services - build or buy; management; collaborations; support to patient-centered care programs; support to palliative programs; prioritizing and evaluating existing and new arrangements.
Identifying and implementing approaches to Medical Home and ACO models for care delivery involving chronically ill patients.
Review opportunities and challenges for home health agencies, private duty companies, PACE programs and hospices in their specific communities.
Board of director education and senior management training - opportunities and service delivery models in community-based care; hospice regulation and likely upcoming reimbursement changes; compliance and fraud and abuse concerns specific to care delivered in home and community settings.
High level and focused assistance with compliance program audits and self-reviews by home health agencies, private duty companies, and hospice and palliative care programs.
Specialized and experienced assistance to companies and their transactional counsel for due diligence reviews during acquisition or sale of provider companies.
Review of privacy and security regulatory requirements; review of policies and implementation under HIPAA.
Provide educational sessions for staff or management on home health long term care or hospice regulations such as conditions of participation, including cross-industry issues (hospitals to HHAs; SNFs to HHAs; HHAs to hospices; assisted living facilities to HHAs and hospices).
Conduct spot-check audits, "mock" survey and specialized training to strengthen compliance programs to ensure they remain "robust" and "effective" in the specialty areas of home-based and/or end of life care.
Participate in annual, semi-annual, or periodic corporate compliance committee meetings to strengthen process and outcomes.
Facilitate educational sessions at professional advisory committee meetings of home health agencies and hospices.
Support annual policy review sessions of the board of directors.
FRAUD AND ABUSE
Support local client counsel for investigation and defense in fraud and abuse enforcement actions in home health, hospice, community services, and long term care industries.
